CT Radiation Dose Tracking and Optimization at Banner Health

This presentation will discuss how Banner Health rolled out and implemented a radiation dose tracking software systemwide. We will share our experience with standardization of protocols, radiation dose optimization, and the governance mechanism to achieve the same across an integrated health delivery network (IHDN).

Perry Kirwan is the vice president of technology management/ENTECH for Banner Health – an integrated delivery network (IDN) based in Phoenix, Arizona. The scope of the program includes clinical technology assessment and planning, diagnostic imaging and non-imaging support/maintenance services, furniture/fixtures and equipment (FF&E) planning/project management services, medical physics, regulatory and compliance, medical device integration and medical device security. The IDN includes 29 hospitals, 11 surgical centers, 288 health centers/clinics, 23 outpatient imaging centers, 43 urgent care centers, Sun Health Research Institute and Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, across 6 states. The organization also brings in $5-$6M annually in revenue under the commercial name ENTECH.

Uday Rao is a board-certified physicist by the American Board of Radiology and is the director of medical physics as part of Technology Management/ENTECH for Banner Health– an integrated delivery network (IDN) based in Phoenix, Arizona. He oversees diagnostic medical physics and nuclear medical physics operations for Banner Health facilities in Arizona. The IDN includes 29 hospitals, 11 surgical centers, 288 health centers/clinics, 23 outpatient imaging centers, 43 urgent care centers, Sun Health Research Institute and Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, across 6 states.
