Our MRI department faced extended wait times, leading to delays in patient care, longer lengths of stay, increased inpatient costs, and revenue loss. In January 2023, we initiated a Lean Six Sigma (LSS) project to address these issues. By February 2023, we began focusing on improving the department’s culture. In March 2023, we collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to further enhance patient access.
Through increased interdepartmental collaboration and weekly oversight, the team implemented key changes, including adding staff, optimizing the scheduling template to maximize available time, and engaging frontline staff in the process improvement.
