Communication Strategies: Conquering the Dreaded Difficult Conversation

Mario Pistilli, CRA, CHFP, CNMT, FACHE, FAHRA, Director of Imaging, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

This presentation will address the inherent problems with communication among imaging teams and suggest strategies for effective and impactful communication and practical tips in handling difficult conversations.

Mario Pistilli has been in the health care field for 26 years with increasing responsibility. He originally trained as a nuclear medicine technologist having received bachelor’s degrees in nuclear medicine technology and chemistry from University of Saint Francis in 1990. He completed an MBA focused in business analytics and health care administration from University of Saint Francis and is currently director of imaging services at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). He is currently enrolled as a doctoral candidate in business administration from California Southern University with a focus on advanced mathematical data modeling and applied statistics. He is also very active in the Association of Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) serving on the regional membership committee.
